Magnetic Number Hanging with Interchangeable Signs

What You’ll Need

  • Large Horizontal Magpanel(11-3/4 inches x 13-1/2 inches; www.magpanels.com)
  • 11-1/2-inch x 13-1/4-inch piece of wool felt (comes with Magpanel)
  • Natural linen blend fabric
  • Ribbon
  • Spray adhesive
  • Strong fabric glue (such as Fabri-Tac)
  • Magnets
  • Scraps of mat board
  • Decorative scrapbook paper
  • Zipper trim
  • Alphabet stickers and/or markers
  • Large number stencils
  • Black paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Grommets and setting tools
  • Hammer
  • Scissors
  • Iron

How to create:

  1. Cut piece of linen blend fabric so that it measures approximately 2 inches beyond both height and width of Magpanel. Press to remove all wrinkles. Spray wrong side of fabric with spray adhesive, then center Magpanel on top and press into place. Starting at corners and moving to edges, fold excess fabric to back of Magpanel and generously glue in place. Let dry.
  2. Trim corners of wool felt and glue in place on center back of Magpanel.
  3. Use grommet setting tools and a hammer to apply grommets in Magpanel holes.
  4. Use stencils, black paint and paintbrush to apply house number to upper center of Magpanel. Let dry.
  5. Cut assorted rectangles from scrap mat board and cover one side of each with decorative scrapbook paper. Apply a sentiment or seasonal greeting to each using alphabet stickers and/or markers. Glue lengths of zipper trim to edges. Adhere magnets to back of each sign and let dry.
  6. Thread a length of ribbon through grommets for hanging.
